B&M customer pays for nan's entire food shop after she takes 'emergency call'

A kind stranger stepped in to pay for a nan's food shopping after she left the till to take an emergency call.

The woman was in B&M in Bromborough, Wirral, on Monday, when she went to take the phone call in another part of the store.

Sharing what happened on Facebook, the woman said she was distracted at the time and so left her handbag and shopping behind.

She was shocked when she returned to the till to find a stranger had paid for her entire shop and refused to take any money from her.

The nan didn't manage to get the woman's name but she would like to t hank her for her kindness.

The woman wrote: "I would like to say a big shout out to a very kind lady who paid for my shopping in B&M at about 5pm today.

"I can only assume she was local, so sorry I didn’t get her name.

"To cut a long story short I was shopping in B&M Bromborough for my elderly mum and got an emergency call to take one of my grandkids up to Arrowe Park Hospital.

"All OK now, but at the time I was distracted and had left my bag having taken the call in another part of the shop."

She continued: "Whilst retrieving my bag and then returning to the till, the shop assistant who had been serving me said a lady had paid for my shopping. What an absolutely kind thing to do.

"She would not take payment from me and said everyone needs a bit of kindness and I promise I intend to do the same for someone else.

"I did not even get the lady’s name but know she was driving a white hatchback car - thank you - and just to say all is well with my grandchild. Kids are certainly a worry at times."

Nearly 300 people liked the post, with many sharing comments congratulating the woman for the kind gesture.

One wrote: "Aww what a lovely thing to do, well done to that lady."

While another said: "That's a lovely thing to have done."
