So a new product being launched by shopping chain B&M could be a boon to those worried about their pets.
The store is selling circular pet-cooling mats for £4.99.
"The mat automatically cools when your pet sits on it, helping to keep them cool and comfortable in hot weather," B&M explains on its website .
The mats are available with watermelon, kiwi and orange designs - and are 60cm in diameter.
B&M points out the mats can also be used to help with allergies, heat stroke, skin conditions and post-surgery.
Although there is a warning - B&M recommends frequent checks for signs of wear and tear and if damage is spotted you need to stop using it.
