AZ question Celtic over Europa League TV blackout as rivals 'extremely disappointed'

AZ Alkmaar insist it's "extremely disappointing" their Europa League clash with Celtic is not being shown live on TV.

The only way for fans not attending the fixture to legally view is through a £9.99 stream on the Parkhead club's official channel.

Premier Sports are not showing Wednesday night's first-leg despite securing the rights for next week's return in the Netherlands and it appears to have irritated AZ.

They've questioned why Celtic, with whom the broadcast rights lie as the home team, have not negotiated with Dutch broadcasters.

They issued a statement hours ahead of kick-off against Ange Postecoglou's team at Celtic Park.

An AZ spokesperson said: "AZ finds it extremely disappointing that no Dutch broadcaster has managed to seize the rights, which in this round lies with the home-playing club.

"Such a match, which is also of enormous importance for Dutch football, deserves to be broadcast.

"For unclear reasons, the rights holder and Dutch broadcasters did not meet."
