Manchester United take on AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League on Thursday night, and will be hoping to make short work of the Dutch side to gain momentum ahead of this weekend’s Premier League fixture against Newcastle.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men were last in action on Monday as they drew 1-1 with Arsenal at Old Trafford, and despite some notable absentees, the Red Devils will feel they should comfortably collect their second consecutive Europa League win on Thursday after defeating Astana 1-0 in September.
AZ drew 2-2 with Partizan Belgrade in their competition opener last month, even with 10 men.
But the Eredivisie team will be keen to avoid such disciplinary troubles against Solskjaer’s side.
