AZ Alkmaar in Celtic Europa League blow as key man set to miss out for Parkhead play-off showdown

AZ Alkmaar will be without one of their key men to face Celtic as a suspension from last season kicks in.

The Dutch side are in Glasgow this week for the first leg of the Europa League play-off round tie at Parkhead.

They face Ange Postecoglou 's men on Wednesday but will be without one of their key players in the shape of suspended Swedish international Jesper Karlsson.

The 23-year-old winger, who is valued at £7 million, was sent off in AZ's last game against Rijeka in the Group Stages of the Europa League last season.

And because this is their first game in Europe this season, he won't be available for the game against Postecoglou's improving side.

AZ did add new keeper, Danish shotstopper Peter Vindahl Jensen to their squad for the tie, but there remains a doubt about whether captain Teun Koopmeiners will play after he was dropped at the weekend because of reported serious interest from Atalanta.

The Serie A side can offer Champions League football and could be set to bring in a big cash windfall by selling Duvan Zapata to Inter.
