Ayutthaya Period cannon found in Sa Kaeo

SA KAEO: A metal object believed to be a cannon more than 350 years old, dating to the Ayutthaya Period, has been found in Watthana Nakhon district of this eastern border province.

Prayoon Riantem, chaiman of Watthana Nakhon tambon administration organisation (TAO), said the object was discovered on Saturday afternoon while an anthill in his rice field near Ang Phai village was removed with an excavator.

The metal object, about 80 centimetres long and 8cm in diametre, was believed to be a cannon more than 350 years old, dating back to the Ayutthaya kingdom.

Mr Prayoon said he had reported the discovery to the Watthana Nakhon district chief.
