JAIPUR: In an effort to spread awareness against various forms of substance abuse, doctors from the National Institute of Ayurveda (NIA) on Sunday organised a free medical camp and counselling session for street children in the slums of Shastri Nagar to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
The one-day free medical camp was organized by the Agad Tantra department of NIA, a city-based deemed university. NIA assistant professor Vaidya Amol Kadu said about 105 patients benefited from this camp.
“Apart from distributing free medicines and holding psychological counselling and awareness camps, we also encouraged people not to consume any sort of drugs. They were made aware about the ill effects of addictive substances,” said Prof Kadu.
The doctors said at the camp that any addicted person can give up the addiction when they are motivated to do so. The doctors motivated the children not to consume tobacco products, alcoholic drinks and drugs in order to stay away from addiction.
