Ayrshire train boost as ScotRail to put extra late services on from next week

Ayrshire commuters have been given a trains boost with ScotRail adding extra late services from next week.

The last service from Glasgow to Ayr will run at 11.30pm from Monday.

The service will run at that time Monday to Friday and on Saturdays.

It will come as a welcome move after weeks of temporary timetable leading to travel chaos with the last service on the main Ayrshire line leaving Glasgow at 10pm.

Tartan Army supporters in Ayrshire were told by rail chiefs to leave the Scotland clash v Armenia at half time amidst the brutal cuts to services.

Hundreds of train services were slashed last month due to an ongoing dispute with drivers.

Rail drivers Union ASLEF have reportedly agreed a pay rise of 5 per cent with Scottish Government owned ScotRail.

A statement on the ScotRail website reads: "We said we'd review the temporary timetable to make improvements if we can.

"We have and we're pleased that from Monday, June 13, we'll run extra late-night services."

No other Ayrshire routes have had services increased.
