One of North Ayrshire's busiest tips faces temporary closure next week due to roadworks.
Bartonholm Recycling Centre in Irvine will be out of bounds for two consecutive days to allow for resurfacing works at the entry and exit road to the facility.
The closures will come into effect on Wednesday, September 29 and Thursday, September 30 while works take place in Sandy Road between the A78 trunk road and Bartonholm Gardens north junction.
To keep disruption to a minimum, traffic management will be brought in to allow some access to the recycling centre on Monday, September 27 and Tuesday, September 28..
Council chiefs are asking anyone planning to visit the centre on those days to allow for additional time due to the traffic management measures.
North Ayrshire's other recycling centres – in Kilbirnie, Largs and Brodick – will remain open as normal.
Councillor Jim Montgomerie, cabinet member for Green New Deal and sustainability, said: “The two-day closure of our Bartonholm recycling centre is necessary to allow for important resurfacing works to the road leading to and directly outside of the site.
“We have arranged the works so that disruption is kept to a minimum by incorporating traffic management so that access to the recycling centre will be possible during the start of the works."
Recycling centre staff will take part in essential training during the closure and support colleagues at North Ayrshire's other recycling centres.
