An Ayrshire teenager has died from coronavirus, new data has shown.
Figures released by the National Records of Scotland (NRS) show that the young East Ayrshire woman was aged between 15 and 19 and her death was registered between October 25 and October 31.
The statistics say that coronavirus was the underlying cause on the teenager's death certificate.
The youngster is believed to be the youngest person to die from Covid in Ayrshire.
Since the pandemic began, Scotland has recorded seven instances of young people under 19 dying after contracting Covid-19.
In Scotland, a total of 10 people aged between 20 and 29 have died from the virus while 53 deaths have been recorded in the 30 to 39 category.
Across Ayrshire 1,081 death certificates have mentioned coronavirus since March 2020. And 504 of those were registered in 2021.
East Ayrshire has recorded 332 Covid deaths (173 in 2021); North Ayrshire has reported 412 (205 in 2021); and South Ayrshire has recorded 337 (126 in 2021).
