Ayrshire takeaway serves up 'Council Dinner' munchie box

An Ayrshire takeaway has launched a 'Council Dinner' munchie box complete with spaghetti hoops, turkey dinosaurs and other childhood favourites.

Minted Munchies in Kilbirnie are offering up the nostalgic nosh for delivery from today.

The sentimental scran comes in the shape of a 12-inch pizza box filled with a host of old school favourites.

Customers can enjoy a bellyful of turkey dinosaurs, curly fries, potato smilies, mini potato waffles, chicken dippers and onion rings, accompanied by tubs of spaghetti hoops and baked beans, for just £15.

The throwback fare is the brain child of Minted Munchies boss Charlene Trivett.

She said: "I love kiddie dinners, as I call them, and I just thought it might be a fun idea to try.

"We only opened our doors in February so your always looking to offer something a little bit different.

"I know places in Glasgow have done this kind of thing before so why not Ayrshire?"

Charlene hopes to offer a sit-in service once coronavirus restrictions ease.
