Ayrshire supermarket bans customers who refuse to wear face coverings in store

An Ayrshire supermarket plans to ban customers who refuse to wear face coverings.

Morrisons bosses have decided to enforce the use of masks as coronavirus infections continue to surge.

Only those with a medical exemption will be permitted into stores without one.

The supermarket's Kilmarnock branch said on Facebook that customers who remove their mask while shopping will be asked to leave the store.

The post reads: "As many of you will have seen in the news, we will now be enforcing the wearing of face coverings for all customers entering our stores unless your are medically exempt as set out in the Government regulations.

"Customers who decline to wear a face covering, and who don't have a reason as set out in the Government regulations will not be permitted entry to our store.

"Additionally any customers who remove their face covering while shopping, or who are not wearing their face covering correctly will be asked by a member of our management team or security guard to comply with the government regulations, should a customer refuse they will be asked to leave the store.

"We ask where possible that there is one person per trolley and that everyone follows the 2-metre social distancing rule.

"The safety of our customers and our colleagues is our most important priority, therefore we would kindly ask everyone to comply with these guidelines.

"Take care and stay safe. Thank you."
