Ayrshire store robbery leaves staff shaken as police seek 'gaunt' suspect with 'discoloured teeth'

Two members of staff have been left 'badly shaken' following a robbery at a Farmfoods store in South Ayrshire last night.

The incident took place at the company's Main Street outlet in Ayr.

The suspect entered the store and threatened the staff members before making off with approximately £400.

No one was injured during the frightening incident, however, police say that staff have been left badly shaken as a result of what has happened.

The suspect is described as white, around 5ft 10in tall and with a medium build. He had a gaunt appearance, was unshaven and had discoloured teeth.

He spoke with a local accent and was wearing a khaki jacket with a light coloured fur-trimmed hood and red training shoes with white markings.

Officers are scouring CCTV images as part of their investigation.

Enquiries carried out have shown there were customers within the store just prior to the incident and officers are appealing to these people to get in touch.

Detective Constable Janet Ferguson said: “This store is popular with the local community and I’m sure people would have seen this man.

“Perhaps you saw him before he entered the story or maybe you saw him leave the premises. I would ask you to think back and if you have even a small piece of information, then please do pass it on.

“I would add that additional officers will be on patrol in the area to provide reassurance to the local community. Anyone with concerns can approach these officers.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 2935 of 26 March, 2021.

Alternatively, you can call Crimstoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.
