Ayrshire stalker's three-day hate campaign

A woman who bombarded the wife of her father with menacing calls and voice messages during a three-day hate campaign has been placed on supervision.

Elaine Martin was handed a Community Payback Order with a supervision period of 12 months when she appeared for sentencing at Ayr Sheriff Court last week.

Martin, 53, of Queens Drive, Troon, previously admitted engaging in a course of conduct which caused Margaret McCulloch fear or alarm by making abusive remarks and allegations about her. She also admitted failing to comply with bail conditions, set out at Ayr Sheriff Court on November 12 last year.

She previously pled guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by repeatedly leaving voicemail messages and making offensive remarks and threats of violence.

And she admitted breaking a bail condition that she should not enter Brodie Avenue, Troon, or approach or contact Margaret McCulloch. Mrs McCulloch is married to Martin’s father.

At a previous hearing fiscal depute Laurin Campbell told the court: “She had concerns that her father was in a relationship with the complainer.

“She contacted him by telephone, saying he was being bullied and determined to call police. Police made contact with the complainer and matters were left at that.”

However, Mrs McCulloch later found 27 calls from the accused saying she was a “c**,” a “thief” and a “bully.”

Ms Campbell continued: “Police attended the complainer’s home and while there she received a further five calls from the accused.”

Later in the evening police went to Martin’s house and arrested her following other threats.

Sentence was deferred until last week’s hearing and Martin was ordered to stay out of trouble.
