Ayrshire SSPCA in urgent appeal for kitten food after rescued cat gave birth

Ayrshire’s Scottish SPCA centre is in urgent need of kitten food after one of its rescued cats gave birth on Saturday.
The charity is now appealing for kind-hearted animal lovers in North Ayrshire to make a donation to their Ayrshire and South West Scotland Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre.
The centre, near Ayr, has seen an influx of pregnant cats recently.
Centre manager Marion Hainey said: “Poppy, who was pregnant when she arrived at the centre as a stray, gave birth on Saturday to five kittens.
“We also have another three cats who we suspect are pregnant and two younger cats that are still on kitten food.
“We are appealing for kitten food for the new and upcoming arrivals as we are down to our last box.
“It can be a struggle to keep up with so many hungry mouths to feed.
“Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic we are closed to the public, but we can accept donations sent directly to us from Amazon or any other online retailer with a delivery service.
“We understand that times are tough for everyone, but if anyone can help with food for these felines we would appreciate anything that people can spare.”
Essential items can be purchased from the centre’s Amazon wishlist here:
