Ayrshire schoolgirl to release Band Aid style Christmas single for foodbank

An Irvine schoolgirl has written a tear-jerking Christmas single about the homeless to raise money for North Ayrshire Foodbank.

Olivia Hastie, of Greenwood Academy, will release her track 'They Don't Have Christmas'- at the school's Xmas Fayre tomorrow (Friday, November 29)

The 14-year-old recorded the song - with a little help from her friends -  at Greenwood's in-house community record label F32 records.

Now she's hoping people who like the track, which can be heard at https://www.f32records.com, will leave a donation at a JustGiving page she's set up to raise cash for North Ayrshire Foodbank. She hopes to raise £500.

Olivia said: ''I wanted to do a Band Aid style piece that I could share my thoughts about homelessness with other people.

"I tried to include as many people as possible to be part of my performance to show that theres a lot of people less fortunate than us''

To leave a donation visit Olivia's Justgiving page here.

A spokesman for F32 records said: "Olivia arrived at our door with her ukulele and her original Christmas song that she wanted to use to fund-raise for her local Food Bank at Christmas.

"Her song, 'They Don't Have Christmas' perfectly raises awareness that Christmas time is not a time for celebration for all and her drive and determination to make a difference is truly inspirational."
