Ayrshire road shut down as emergency services race to crash

An Ayrshire road remains closed this evening while emergency services deal with a crash that took place earlier this afternoon.

The A759 between Dundonald and Gatehead has been closed for almost three hours while mercy crews have been dispatched to the scene.

Police say they were called to attend the crash at around 1.40pm today.

Eyewitnesses have reported multiple ambulances and police cars racing to the scene this afternoon.

Cars are being turned around from the B751 junction on the road.

Police have told Ayrshire Live the route remains closed for the time being as work continues at the location.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We were called around 1.40pm on Friday, September 10, to a report of a road crash on the A759 between Dundonald and Gatehead.

"Emergency services are in attendance and the road is currently closed.”
