Drivers are reporting huge delays this morning after a major Ayrshire road was closed.
The A71 was closed earlier today and will remain shut for almost two weeks, officials say.
The stretch of road between Kilmarnock's Moorfield roundabout and Irvine's Warrix Interchange has been completely closed westbound for resurfacing.
This morning, the A71 between Bellfield Interchange and Moorfield in the same direction was gridlocked as drivers negotiated the diversion put in place.
Huge delays have been reported with tailbacks extending as far back as the turn off to Campbell Street.
Work is being carried out by North Ayrshire Council.
Access to Holmsford Bridge Crematorium at Dreghorn will be via Corsehill Mount Roundabout as this will remain open throughout the works.
The road is expected to reopen on Sunday, June 13.
