Ayrshire railway line could remain closed all week after landslip

Rail disruption will continue for passengers tomorrow.

Network Rail Scotland has said that because of the severity of a landslip, the line between Kilmarnock and Dumfries could be closed further into the week.

The incident between Thornhill and Holywood in Dumfriesshire emerged on Monday following Storm Ciara.

Network Rail Scotland tweeted: "Our specialist geotechnical engineers continue to fully assess the damage caused by this landslip.

"Due to the severity of this, the line will remain closed tomorrow and may need to remain closed further into the week. We will update you on the situation once we are able to."

"Kilmarnock (to Dumfries) – 07:54, 09:18, 10:51.

"Dumfries (to Kilmarnock) - 05:13, 05:45, 06:46, 08:47.

"Buses will call at intermediate stations, times may vary slightly due to traffic."
