Ayrshire rail services facing days of disruption after two landslips

Rail services between Ardrossan and Largs are facing days of disruption following 'significant' landslips.

Network Rail say they are assessing damage at two sites along the line which is currently closed.

At Fairlie, thousands of tonnes of debris has been deposited over a 50-metre stretch of track.

Specialist earthworks, drainage and overhead power engineers are on-site there and at a seperate landslip near West Kilbride.

Disruption is expected until the end of tomorrow.

ScotRail say train services between Glasgow Central and Largs will start and terminate at Kilwinning.

Stations at West Kilbride, Fairlie and Largs are currently not being served.

ScotRail has arranged for passenger rail tickets to be accepted on local bus routes.

Services between Glasgow Central and Ardrossan Harbour are planned to run as scheduled.
