Ayrshire police confirm A77 closed due to 'danger to life' flooding

The A77 has officially been closed heading southbound as police issue a warning.

Between the Bellfield Interchange in Kilmarnock and the Dutch House Roundabout in Ayr has been sealed off due to heavy rainfall.

The Met Office have issued a "danger to life" warning for the flooding until midnight.

A police statement said: "The A77(S) at Bellfield Interchange (Kilmarnock) is currently closed due to severe flooding.

"Road users are advised to use an alternative route and expect some delays.

"Please drive with care as heavy rain has made driving conditions dangerous on many roads across Ayrshire."
