Ayrshire police attend 'challenging' incident after report of concern for boy, 15

Police swooped on Ayr beach tonight following a report of concern for a 15-year-old boy.

Emergency services raced to the shorefront earlier this evening after being called to the beach near Seafield Drive.

Police said just before 10.30pm tonight that they had been part of a "challenging search" which required specialist departments and partners.

The force also confirmed the teenage boy had been traced safe and well.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Tonight, we received a report of concern for a 15-year-old boy on Ayr beach.

"The challenging search required specialist departments and partners.

"We have now traced the man safe and well.

"Our partners and public are thanked for their assistance."

We reported earlier this evening that a multi-agency response was underway at the beach.

Officers were joined at the scene by coastguard rescue teams.

Police had previously said they were dealing with an "ongoing incident" but said there was no threat to the wider public.
