Creep John Rodie, a 54-year-old prisoner, crawled into the woman's bedroom while she slept.
He would have been aged 12 to 14 at the time when he carried out the attacks at an address in Ayr between 1977 and 1979.
Rodie’s victim has been left scarred by the incidents, developing trust and intimacy issues and choosing not to have children because of this. She feared that if she had a daughter, she would be abused in a similar manner.
Fiscal Ms McGregor said: “Between August 1, 1977, and August 1, 1979, the accused was 12 to 14 years old and the complainer was 9 to 11.During this period, the accused would sneak into the room on all fours and reach under the bed covers and touch her.”
Rodie originally denied the allegations but tendered a guilty plea in May.
Rodie is currently serving a custodial sentence for a different matter.
Sheriff Desmond Leslie told Rodie: “This offence occurred while you yourself were a child and that is a matter which I consider of the greatest significant here in choosing the appropriate sentence.”
Rodie admitted using lewd, indecent and libidinous practices towards a woman on a number of occasions between August 1, 1977 and August 1, 1979.
He will be supervised for three years and was made subject to a notification requirement for three years.
