Ayrshire lad takes role in Harry Styles music video

A schoolboy from Irvine is starring in Harry Styles’ latest video.

Jude Shedden, 11, spent time filming here in Scotland with the One Direction superstar on his ‘Adore You’ promo earlier this year.

But the experience hasn’t turned the St Matthew’s Academy pupil’s head at all.

His proud mum Michelle, 48, said: “Jude is very grounded. Every thing he goes up for, no matter what it is, he treats just like a job, which is the best way to be.

“When I asked him if he told his teachers or his friends at school about the Harry Styles video coming out, he said he had forgotten!”

Mum Michelle said: “He was really excited to be working with the music video’s director David Meyers who has directed the likes of Ariana Grande before. He did say ‘this director is massive’ and of course he enjoyed the experience.

“The video is more like a short film, and is bound to be massive with Harry Styles fans. My niece, who is a massive fan, is really excited about it.

“But Jude really he is such an easy-osey boy, he takes everything in his stride and remains really down to earth and grounded.”

Jude, from Girdle Toll, has been involved in drama since he was just three years old when he took classes with Claire Gray Wilson at Irvine’s Harbour Arts Centre.

The former St John Ogilvie Primary pupil is currently a student of the Theatre School of Scotland in Glasgow and is a client of KR Management.

A delighted Reece Donnelly, director of the Theatre School of Scotland, said: “Jude is just one of those kids that nothing is too big a task for. Whether it’s an accent or a new role, he just takes it on and goes with it.

“Jude is one of three boys from the school in the video which is amazing. If you had said to us when we set the business up three or four years ago, we’d have pupils in an international pop star’s video, I wouldn’t have believed you.

“But really it is down to the hard work the pupils put in, they attend every week and take every single note on the chin.”

Mum Michelle added: “Jude has been up and down to London a lot over the years going for auditions.

“We always make sure it’s what he really wants to do. We never push him and he is always been really cool headed about the audition process.

“Going through these auditions has been a really great thing for Jude, I see how he has an inner confidence, it teaches them how to be quietly confident.

“Even if he doesn’t continue with this as he gets older, these experiences will I hope help him in the future.

“After this, going for a job interview should be like a walk in the park!”

The video for 'Adore You' by Harry Styles was released at 1pm today.
