Ayrshire KFC lovers told they'll have to wait almost two hours for takeaway food

Massive queues are still forming at Kilmarnock's KFC this evening.

And hungry diners are being told to wait one-and-a-half hours before getting their food.

The Queen's Drive fast-food outlet opened up for the first time since lockdown began earlier today.

Within an hour of opening at 12noon, more than 40 motors had started queuing up for the famous fried chicken.

Now more than six hours later, eyewitnesses say that the queues are just as big.

One driver has reported that the queue of cars waiting to get food goes as far back to The Range and snakes past Burger King.

KFC is one of the first fast-food chains to reopen after closing down operations in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Kilmarnock's Burger King is also set to reopen for drive-thru orders on Monday.

McDonald's restaurants are also expected to be opened at the beginning of June.
