Ayrshire Junior giants make new contract offer to management team as work gathers pace on and off park

Kilwinning Rangers are busy laying the foundations for a club fit for senior football on and off the park.

Tying down a successful management team on new contracts, developing a fruitful transfer network and carrying out vital ground improvements are top priorities for chairman Colin Boyd.

He said: “We’re totally behind the management team. The manager has been offered a new contract, players will be next. The good news is our management team has indicated that nobody is going anywhere.

“At the beginning of the season the manager decided to bring in a scout to look at the South of Scotland League, reserves leagues the amateur leagues and pinpoint players we could bring in.

“We’ll be going round those clubs again, looking a wee bit further afield and building a list of players to come in.

“Talking to the manager, he’s got a list of 20 people that have already contacted us to come and play next season.”

Work on installing new floodlights – courtesy of investment by sponsor Chris McMail of Microtech Ltd is due to start – and new stands are in the pipeline.

Colin added: “We’ve plans to have two 14 metre stands where the  terracing is at the moment. We’ll put one  up for next season and we’ll have the planning to put the other one up should we need it.

“There’s also plans for two 14m stands either side of the goals at  both ends of the park and six 7m stands along the far side. That’ll give us double the meterage we had at Abbey Park.

“We looked at seated stands but at our level we don’t need it. We’ll maybe come back to that at a later stage.

“We had a three year plan when we moved and we’re a wee bit behind that but by the end of the three years we should be at a licence stage.”
