A dog charity which helps pooches find their paw-fect Over-60s owners has been given a boost with a cash donation from big-hearted schoolkids.
Troon's Give a Dog a Bone is in the money thanks to the efforts of two pupils at Prestwick Academy.
They handed over £3,000 as part of the school’s involvement in The Wood Foundation’s Youth & Philanthropy Initiative (YPI).
The school is one of six across South Ayrshire to have taken part in YPI this year.
Third-year students Rebekah McCrorie and Lillia Rowan were among the finalist teams competing to win the money for their chosen charity.
And they wowed judges with their attention to detail during a presentation and passion for the charity.
QTS Group are principal funders of the programme in Ayrshire.
Lisa McKellar, their marketing manager and one of the judges on the panel, said: "It was evident from all of the presentations that the judges saw that the pupils had spent a lot of time researching their chosen charities and that they were all very passionate about the causes they were representing.
“It was a really difficult decision for the judging panel, but the girls representing Give a Dog a Bone definitely put together a very comprehensive and compelling presentation on behalf of the charity.
“It’s been a tough year for the young people, so it’s really heartening to see them put so much effort into these presentations that help so many worthy charities throughout Ayrshire."
Shona Pham, lead teacher for YPI at Prestwick Academy, added: "I am so proud of each of the students who took part in this year’s YPI programme.
"It’s been an extraordinary year and they have pulled together in their teams to create some really engaging presentations.
“Every charity that was represented was a worthy winner, but of course, there can only be one.
"Well done to all of those who took part, but especially to Rebekah, Lillia and Give a Dog a Bone.”
