The number of Ayrshire patients battling coronavirus in hospital has dropped to its lowest level since October.
New data released today shows a dramatic reduction in those fighting COVID-19 in NHS Ayrshire & Arran facilities.
A total of 78 people are currently in the health board's hospitals after contracting the killer bug — a reduction of 12 on the previous day.
The number of Covid-stricken patients hasn't been that low since October 25.
The news comes as Ayrshire marked one year since the first coronavirus case was detected.
NHS Ayrshire & Arran hospitals were dealing with record numbers of coronavirus patients a matter of weeks ago with 243 battling the virus at the start of February.
ICU numbers in Ayrshire have also remained at five for the seventh consecutive day. Critical care for Ayrshire's sickest COVID-19 patients reached record levels at the end of January when 17 people were in intensive care.
One Ayrshire coronavirus death has been registered in the past 24 hours. Public Health Scotland's death toll for the region now stands at 690.
Ayrshire has also recorded 24 new cases of coronavirus overnight bringing the region's total to 15,505.
Across Scotland, 498 new cases have been reported with the country's total now at 204,553.
And 11 more coronavirus deaths have also been registered across Scotland. The national death toll now stands at 7,409.
