North Ayrshire Council are offering land up for retail development - close to the rejected Lidl supermarket site in Irvine.
Workers erected a for sale sign at Montgomerie Park on Wednesday - the same day council planners knocked back Lidl's bid for a store at nearby Stanecastle roundabout.
The land was rejected by Lidl during planning negotiations, insisting it wasn't suitable for their business model.
North Ayrshire Council today confirmed the land is up for sale for retail and commercial use and that the site was discussed during the planning process with Lidl.
