Ayrshire company's 'Buster' dummy is fun way of thanking frontline staff

The Irvine Herald's photographer Steve McKendrick did a double take after seeing this Irvine iron works ‘employee’ spreading a very special lockdown message to the town the other day.
Dain Art’s Buster the dummy is dressed to the nines in his protective gear holding a colourful ‘Bless the NHS’ sign atop a hut.
Owner Eric Dainert found Buster at the skip and gave him a new home at his business premises based at the town’s Kyle Road.
Eric’s daughter, Claire Dainert said: “Normally, Buster sits outside on a chair holding a mobile phone and an Irn-Bru and at Christmas he is dressed as Santa.
“A lot of customers think he’s a real person until they get closer.
“It’s just a wee bit of fun and Buster has become a fixture at the shop."

Claire added: “With everything that is going on at the moment my dad just wanted to boost the town’s morale and he placed him on top of the hut so people can see him on the bypass.
“The NHS is the forefront of everyone’s mind just now and he did it to say thank you.
“It’s a nice way to brighten the mood.”
Dain Art has been in the town for over 18 years, formerly based at the town’s Quarry Road.
“My dad always tries to put a smile on people's faces and it has cheered him up because he hasn’t got much work on at the moment.
“Its hard times for everyone at the moment and this is just something a wee bit of fun to brighten everyone's day.”
