Ayrshire College students host exhibition to showcase skills and raise cash for charity

Budding photography students hosted an in-house exhibition at Ayrshire College.

The event showcased the new skills they have learned over the past year and raise money for a good cause.

The Kilwinning campus student’s each selected two photographs from their portfolio to display to fellow students, staff and visitors to the college.

Original prints were priced at £5 and by the end of the day, all of the prints had sold out.

It is understood that all of the proceeds raised will be donated to the Ayrshire Hospice.

NC photography student Kaitlin McTaggart, 20, from Kilwinning has learned a lot over the past year. She said: “It’s important for us to be able to show our creativeness.

“I’ve learnt a lot about long exposure this year.

“I think my photo at Dunure Castle really highlights how far I’ve progressed.”

Brian Woolfson, Core Skills lecturer at Ayrshire College, said: “I was really impressed with the quality of this group’s work during the past few months as well as their demonstration of first-class teamwork skills.

“Their commitment to delivering the exhibition was second to none - and in terms of the images, their attention to detail was meticulous.

“It is also encouraging to see the progress made by particular students over the years, some of whom started in our Supported Learning ‘Routes’ classes and who have now achieved a positive outcome in an NC course.

“I am confident that many of this group will go on to further study and a successful career in this field.”
