Ayrshire Asda worker hailed for helping unconscious customer who collapsed in car park

An Ayrshire supermarket worker has been hailed by colleagues for coming to the rescue of a customer who collapsed in a store car park.

Kenzie Brown, 19, who works part time at the customer service desk at Asda in Irvine, spotted the customer was unwell as she popped in on her day off to buy some essentials.

She ran into the store and called for a first aider then stayed and looked after the gentleman until an ambulance arrived.

The customer made a full recovery after a stint in hospital and returned to the store with a bunch of flowers to thank Kenzie for her act of kindness.

And this week bosses at Asda praised 'caring' Kenzie for going above and beyond the call of duty.

Kenzie, who juggles her job with studying at Strathclyde University said: “I was in picking up some shopping and as I was about to leave, I saw the customer fall down right in front of me at the car park.

“The man was unconscious for a while and it was a cold day, so I tried to wrap him up warm, a few other customers and staff were there to help too.

"After a short while, he came back to consciousness and we tried to keep him stable until an ambulance arrived.”

“The customer is actually in all the time and he always comes to my till to buy a bottle of juice before doing his shopping. He’s a lovely man and I was glad to help. I would have done it for anyone.”

David Johnston, customer service manager at Asda Irvine, said: "Kenzie is a very caring colleague and her going above and beyond for this customer does not surprise us.

"The customer, who is a regular at our store, spent some time in hospital but has now made a full recovery. He returned to the store with a bunch of flowers to thank Kenzie for keeping his spirits up and staying with him. Well done, Kenzie."
