Ayr warehouse goes up in flames as fire crews race to scene of blaze

Firefighters are tackling a blaze after a Scots warehouse caught fire this morning.

Crews raced to Weir Road in Ayr around 10.30am on Friday November 5, after flames were spotted at the industrial unit.

The cause of the fire is unclear at this time , but the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service deployed four units to tackle the blaze.

Dramatic pictures from the scene show firefighters atop a massive ladder spraying water down into the fire as dark grey smoke rises into the air.

It is understood there have been no casualties.

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service told the Daily Record: "We are in attendance at an incident in Weir Road in Ayr.

"We received the initial call at 10.35am and there are four appliances that are in attendance.

"It is a fire we are in attendance at."

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
