Ayr United striker Tomi Adeloye makes it lucky 13 with big goal at Morton

Tomi Adeloye stepped off the bench to claim a crucial point at Cappielow – but was gutted he didn’t win all three.

Ayr’s top scorer notched his 13th goal of the season as United pegged back drop-zone rivals Morton.

But Adeloye reckoned he could have made even bigger headlines after being denied a stunning late winner by keeper Jack Hamilton.

He said: “It was great to get my goal and I got unfortunate with the second effort as the keeper pulled off a wicked save.

"But the main thing is it’s another point in the right direction as results have gone for us.

“We just have to keep moving on now.

“I know Kerr (McInroy) will produce the type of ball he did and give me at least one good chance every game.

“It’s just up to me to take them and thankfully I did that.

“The pace was all on the ball and I was able to guide it into the net.”

Adeloye’s 79th minute header from McInroy's excellent corner sparked Ayr into life after they had trailed to Cameron Blues’ first-half opener.

And they went on to finish the stronger as Ton held on for a point.

Adeloye, who was on the bench nursing a badly bruised foot, will now push teen striker Fraser Bryden, who excelled in his first start up front at Cappielow.

He said: “Whatever role the gaffer wants me to play, I’m more than happy to do that.

“It’s a team game, it’s not about me, so I’m here to help out in any way I can.

"As I've said before, I'm just enjoying playing my football this season and being among the goals regularly.

"It's new for me to get a full season under my belt like this and I'm wanting to make the most of it."
