Ayr United have officially requested to have Saturday's Championship clash with Raith Rovers postponed.
It comes amid the Covid outbreak currently sweeping Somerset Park, which has now seen six first-team players hit by the virus.
Three sat out the 400-mile round trip to Inverness on Saturday after returning positive tests at the end of last week.
And a further three first-team players have since recorded positive samples this week.
United have shut down their training base in a bid to slow the outbreak and all office staff at the club are to work from home until Monday.
Ayr's club shop will also stay closed until at least that date.
It could then be a further week before players return, if Ayr are given the nod by league officials to enter a period of hibernation.
Talks have been ongoing since the beginning of this week with public health officials and Scottish Football's joint response group (JRG) in a bid to find a way forward.
But Ayr remain in the dark as to whether Saturday's clash with Rovers will go ahead.
A United statement read: "We can now confirm that we have formally requested that Saturday's match with Raith Rovers be postponed.
"This is after several meetings with public health and the JRG where we presented all the information that we had collated over the previous days.
“As soon as the decision has been made we will confirm on all our channels."
