Ayr United receive green light for works to begin on ambitious Somerset Hub

Ayr United's ambitious off the field plans took another significant step forward this morning.

The club received approval in principle from Scottish Water for its Somerset Hub project, leaving the way clear for works to begin.

The project will see a social club and new office space built as part of positive plans to improve supporter experience at Somerset Park.

A revamped club shop will also be included in the works, which are now due to start in the coming weeks.

United owner David Smith told the Ayrshire Post: "We're delighted to get this news as it allows us to start on site shortly.

"All being well, we'll look to have the works starting in the next four to six weeks.

"It's a hugely positive piece of news and will give us a real platform to build from as we look to strengthen the club's infrastructure moving forward."

Construction of the Hub is expected to take around six months to complete once works begin.
