Ayr United are set to be quids in after landing a record breaking new kit deal with Rangers ’ kit supplier Hummel.
The Championship side have followed arch rivals Kilmarnock in moving to the Danish firm - who are currently being pursued by Gers over unpaid sales cash - and say the bumper deal is the biggest in their history.
Mark Kerr’s side are sitting in the play-off spots for promotion to the Scottish Premiership.
But with football in lockdown amid the coronavirus crisis the news comes at a crucial time for the Honest Men who have had their strips made by adidas in recent seasons.
The Hummel deal will kick in for the new season and Ayr chiefs confirmed their sponsorship deal with digital currency company Bitcoin SV will also continue.
A Somerset spokesman said: “After many years of using Adidas kit we decided the time was right to change. We explored many options and the quality of the Hummel product and their desire to work with Ayr United made the decision for us.
“We have therefore signed multi-year record deal which will include at least one completely Bespoke strip per season from the Hummel design team. Our partnership with Bitcoin SV also continues for next season and we are hugely appreciative of their support.”
Rangers have had their kit produced by Hummel for the past two years but revealed last month that they had “served proceedings” over almost £2.8m of unpaid sales from the Danish company and band partner Elite.
Rangers also dropped the name Hummel from their training centre which had been part of the £10m deal they agreed in 2018.
Kilmarnock confirmed last month that they were moving to Hummel and now Ayr have followed suit.
