Ayr United diehard to raffle signed strip in aid of club

An Ayr United diehard is offering fellow fans the chance to own a slice of cherished memorabilia.

Prestwick dad Colin Sturgeon is one of the most well known faces on the terraces, having followed the Honest Men for most of his 49 years.

And now he's putting a signed United top up for grabs - with all proceeds going to the club he loves.

Colin, who only won the shirt this month, explained: "A lot of the credit for this must go to my fellow fan, Scott Plain.

"He had come about the strip originally and made it available online as part of a fun competition to see who had the best picture of themselves with an Ayr player.

"I was chosen as the winner and decided the best thing to do with the shirt would be to try and raise some money for the club, particularly with what's going on right now."

The 'League 1 winners' edition home shirt is signed by most of the 2018/19 squad and Colin is hoping to raise plenty of cash for the AU500 Fund.

Anyone wanting a shot at the prize can grab a ticket for just £5 through his Twitter page.

Colin, an aircraft engineer at GE Caledonian, added: "It's already raised more than £500 so far and I'm hoping to get a real push on it this week.

"Entires will close this Friday night before I attempt to do a live draw on Facebook on Saturday afternoon, which could be interesting!

"Hopefully as many people as possible can have a go for a fiver and we can raise some good money for the Fund.

"They've obviously done great work raising so much money over the years, so it would be good to add something to the total."

To enter the raffle, send Colin a DM on his Twitter page @colinsturge
