Ayr United boss Mark Kerr admits frustration as Honest Men held by Dundee United

Ayr boss Mark Kerr admits he's a frustrated man watching his team suffer on weather-beaten pitches.

The player-boss had to settle for a point against Champions-elect Dundee United on Tuesday night.

And although Ayr had the better of the contest, Kerr says his team are capable of much more.

He said: "I would just love to be playing games on the standard of pitch we had at the start of the season.

"We feel we can cut anyone open so it's frustrating watching it at the moment.

"We tried to win the game, it was never about getting a point off Dundee United.

"But we didn't create a lot of clearcut chances for all the shots we got away."

Ayr were the more positive side and created the better openings of a tight 90 minutes at Somerset.

But ultimately both sides cancelled each other out on a cold night under the lights.

Alan Forrest and Stephen Kelly went closest for Ayr during a first half in which they controlled possession.

But they were rocked at half time when they lost Kerr to injury, and that broke their momentum.

Ian Harkes blew a golden chance to put the Arabs in front midway through the second half.

But Ayr, who sent on Connor Malley and finished strongly, tried to win it with Aaron Drinan chancing his arm three times before Kelly shot wide.
