David Hopkin urged Ayr fans to get behind his side after a damaging night at Somerset.
The boss hit out at terracing boo boys who were vocal as nine-man United were well beaten by Raith.
Hopkin insists his squad needs support from the home faithful to ride their rough patch.
It followed a 2-0 defeat which saw Jonathan Afolabi and skipper Aaron Muirhead both see red as Ayr's discipline crumbled near the end.
First half goals from Ethon Varian and former Ayr winger Dario Zanatta sealed the points for Rovers.
Hopkin told the Ayrshire Post: "It's the first time since I've been here that nine or ten players didn't play well.

"I can take abuse – I've been in football for a long time.
"All I ask the fans is to get behind Ayr United and the players on that pitch.
"They can think what they want of me, that's fine, I've been around long enough in the game.

"The Somerset Road End has been fantastic in games and we've gone from the great performance against Dundee United a couple of weeks ago to this, so it's frustrating.
"We went to Inverness the other week and had 250 fans clapping us off the pitch.
"There are going to be bumps in the road."

"Everyone is in it together and the players will give it everything with the fans' support."
Hopkin also pointed to United's return from Covid isolation, with the squad coming off the back of 10 days' inactivity.
A total of six first-team players tested positive as United's dressing room was hit hard.
"People need to realise it's not as easy as boys coming back from Covid and being ready to play," he said.
"A number of them out there tonight were not at the levels we'd expect, but they gave it their best."
