Ayr United appoint new Head of Recruitment as Honest Men swoop for Hamilton's Keith Glendinning

Keith Glendinning will become Ayr United's new Head of Recruitment after joining the Somerset Park revolution.

United's ambitious off the park rebuild has continued with the appointment of the former Hamilton chief, who doubled as Accies' video analyst.

Glendinning is making the move to team up again with Ayr's new managing director, Graeme Mathie, whom he previously worked with at Hibs.

And Mathie believes the capture will be a key component in The Honest Men's bid to drive progress both on and off the pitch.

He told the Ayrshire Post: "I'm delighted to be bringing Keith on board as he is someone with a real background in the game that will add a lot to what we're doing.

"He has many strings to his bow and along with player recruitment, has done a lot of work on opposition analysis and that side of the game down the years.

"Credit to David Smith and the board here in backing this appointment and looking to put a structure in place that will hopefully allow us to reap the rewards moving forward."

Accies chairman Allan Maitland said: Maitland said: "Keith goes with our best wishes.

"This is nothing to do with Hamilton Accies, he's going to join an old friend.

"Keith was great for us, we have no qualms about him whatsoever, he just wanted to link up with Graeme because he worked with him before.

"It's a change of a role, slightly, for him, and it's a good move for him."

It comes as United edge closer to naming their new head coach, with Mathie hoping to have his chosen candidate in place by the end of the week.
