Ayr town centre road crash leaves woman in hospital with serious injuries

A road crash in the centre of Ayr has left a woman in hospital with serious injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after the incident which took place in the town's Barns Street yesterday.

The crash happened at around 1.35pm and involved a white Mercedes Sprinter van and a pedestrian.

The 57-year-old female pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the van was uninjured.

Sergeant John Bradford, from Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit, said: “We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident take place, was in the area at the time, or has potential dash cam footage, to please come forward.

“Anyone with information can call police on 101, quoting incident 1648 of 25 August.”
