Ayr thug attacked disabled man in his own home

A thug attacked a man living with cerebral palsy in his own home.

Jorden McEwan, 23, of Wilson Street, Ayr, appeared at the town’s sheriff court last week.

He admitted inducing a disabled man to open his door, seizing him by the throat, forcing him to the floor, sitting on top of him and punching him on the head.

The offence happened at Minnoch Crescent, Maybole, on May 15.

McEwan also admitted assaulting a police officer on the same day by repeatedly kicking them on the leg.

His solicitor said: “He accepts it was a reprehensible incident.

“He suffers from anxiety and depression but he’s able to comply with a supervision order and he’s in a position to do unpaid work.”

Sheriff Desmond Leslie put McEwan under supervison and gave him a curfew order for two months, meaning he must stay in his property between 7pm and 7am.
