Another huge Ayr housing development is in the pipeline with 400 homes set for the south east of the town, near the town's hospital.
Lynch Homes, based in Maybole, plans to apply for permission 'in principle' to build the homes on land between Ayr Hospital and Kincaidston.
The application outlines the developer's plans for online consultation, required due to restrictions imposed during the pandemic.
Lynch Homes plan two online events, run by Geddes Consulting.
In its communications strategy, the consultant stated: "The first event will provide an outline of the proposal and explain what survey and appraisal work is ongoing to clarify the possible impacts.
"Any issues raised in this consultation will be logged and taken into account in the finalising the proposal.
"The second event will explain the final proposal taking into account the resolution of technical issues arising as well as explaining how issues raised at the initial public consultation event have been addressed."
A number of groups will be consulted, including community councils representing Annbank and Coylton, Belmont, Kincaidston and St Leonard's, Alloway and Doonfoot, and Forehill, Holmston and Masonhill.
The proposal continues: "In addition to the information presented at the online consultation events, the project website for Alton
will confirm the pre-consultation steps and explain the engagement process and the time periods for responses.
"This will be hosted on the Geddes Consulting website. It will identify the location of the development site.
"The exhibition materials will be uploaded onto the Geddes Consulting website with a Live Chat hosted for a four-hour period, during which time answers will be provided to any questions raised.
"This exceeds the minimum set out in Government guidance of 2-3 hours. It is proposed that the chat room will be held between 4pm and 8pm to maximise public accessibility.
"Geddes Consulting and other members of the project team will respond to all questions raised in the Live Chat.
"Responses to questions submitted via email after the Live Chat closes, will be provided within a 10-day period.
"The information on the website will be available to download by the public and will be available online for a period of 28 days from the date of the notice."
