Ayr schoolkids hit the Spanish sun as part of an education trip

Senior Belmont Academy pupils swapped Ayr for the searing heat of Spain as part of an education trip.

A total of 43 pupils and five staff from Belmont spent five days touring Andalucía as temperatures peaked.

They took part in various activities such as tour of Malaga, the Nerja caves, took a catamaran to Puerto Banus and also enjoyed the Benalmádena cable car.

Meanwhile, the S6 pupil sports leaders organised a sports fayre to encourage the younger students to get involved in class activities.

These activities included netball, basketball, handball, boys and girls football, boys and girls rugby and volleyball .

There were stations to give information to more than 200 students, with a high turnout from the new S1 group.

The event was a huge success and the clubs and activities which were promoted have had a spike in attendance and interest and the younger children now have a place to go in their free time.
