Ayr's WWE star Drew McIntyre hopes heavyweight title win can inspire others to chase their dreams

Ring king Drew McIntyre wants his stunning world title win to inspire others to chase their dreams.

WWE star Drew is on top of the world this week after becoming the first Brit to win the company’s heavyweight title.

Former Prestwick Academy pupil Drew, 34, was crowned champ at the WrestleMania spectacular.

The show, which was forced behind closed doors due to the coronavirus crisis, saw Drew (real name Drew Galloway) land the industry’s most coveted prize.

Millions tuned in around the globe, including many of his old school pals and former wrestling buddies from Ayrshire.

The champ told the Ayrshire Post: “To be the first UK champ...the first Scottish champ...it’s surreal.

“I’m just a guy from Ayr with big dreams.

“I hope this inspires others to chase your goals, no matter how unrealistic they may seem to others.”

Drew defeated Brock Lesnar in the main event of the unique card, which was held at WWE's training centre.

Fans can tune in tonight to see the start of his title reign on BT Sport 1 from 1am.
