One of Ayr’s longest running family businesses has been put on the market – for offers of £1.25million.
The seafront Horizon Hotel is being sold following almost four decades in the ownership of Alan Meikle.
The 25-bedroom venue, popular for weddings, boasts a beer garden and 80-cover restaurant and cocktail bar.
Mr Meikle said he was leaving the hotel with advance bookings into 2022.
He revealed: “The hotel has been at the centre of my life for 39 years, but it is now time for me to retire and hand the reins on to someone new.
“Life in the hotel is fast, interesting, and always enjoyable – every day is different.
“I have the utmost respect for the wonderful team of staff we have at the hotel and know they will continue to support the new operator the same way they have supported us.”
The hotel is being marketed by Christie & Co.
