Ayr's Bonmarche to close in further blow to the High Street

Ayr High Street has been dealt another blow with the news that Bonmarché is to close.

The women's clothing brand is currently holding a closing down sale.

It follows last year's company announcement of losses as its share prices dropped by 14 per cent.

During the summer, Bonmarché was bought out by Edinburgh Woollen Mill and Peacocks boss Philip Day in a £5.7million rescue operation.

However, the deal wasn’t enough to save the business, as bosses appointed administrators in October as the company couldn’t meet its financial obligations.

Bonmarché has been contacted for comment by Ayrshire Live.
