Ayr parents tell of relief as teenage son is found safe and well after huge social media appeal

An Ayr family have told of their relief to get their missing teenage son back.

Cameron McInally, 14, was spotted on a train heading back to the Ayrshire town last night after vanishing on Monday night.

Yesterday, his worried parents David and Julie-ann McIlloney told how they were worried for his safety after he was last seen by them on Main Road, Ayr around 11.10pm the previous evening.

However, last night their efforts to find their son paid off with Cameron being traced by a member of the public.

Cameron is now home safe and well.

Grateful dad David told Ayrshire Live: "We are just relieved that we have our son back and that he is safe, that was our main concern.

"The reaction to all the appeals online have been amazing, it just shows you the power of social media.

"Someone spotted Cameron on a train heading back towards Ayr and through someone else we were able to contact him."

Police confirmed that Cameron and another boy reported missing were found last night together.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Police Scotland can confirm that Cameron McInally, 14, missing from Ayr since April 26 has been traced safe and well. Cameron was in the company of another boy who has also been traced safe and well."
