Ayr man who vanished three weeks ago after leaving for work found 'safe and well'

A man who had not been seen since leaving his home for work more than three weeks ago has been found "safe and well".

Matthew Wainwright, of James Campbell Road, Ayr , had last been seen leaving his home on Monday July 22.

Police have now thanked the public for their help in tracing him.

The 32-year-old was due to return from work in the north of England on Friday July 26 but had only made "one or two calls to his family".

A Police Scotland spokesperson said on Friday: "Matthew has been traced safe and well. Thanks to everyone for their assistance."
